I’d like to share with you my memories of Lorri whom I knew and liked a lot, along with her parents whom I’ve grown to love.

My path to Lorri started with meeting her father Sam backing 1991. Myself, Mark DuBach and Craig Mcullah met Sam at a sandwich shop in Miami know at the time as the Yellow Submarine. Sam would make his rounds after work visiting local watering holes, having a few beers and looking for recruits for some thing called “the Moose” Eventually I caved in along with Mark and Craig and were enrolled.  I think Larry Short was the outgoing Governor and Sam was the incoming Governor.

I (we) next met Beverly who was bartender and obviously a very active player in the organization at the time. Of course finding out she was Sam’s wife we behaved accordingly!

Shortly after that I met Lorri at one of the many Saturday nights we spent at the Lodge. At the time, Mark and I lived in what is now known as Doral so coming up here and drinking a few was a dangerous effort. Lorri was very cute and quite fun to be around. I don’t recall her being a particularly loud person but when she spoke it was straight, to the point, and funny. A sharp wit. There were a few Saturdays when the gang was Lorri, the Kuznitz’s, Vellas, Scott before he married Maria, Gert, Terry Brown, the Jarvises, Ed and Barbara? Brian Cavanaugh, the Malsbury’s. At that time there was an army behind the scenes, volunteering time, cooking, looking after fellow members and making a fine lunch. An army that did not seek or want any recognition for their efforts. That was an army of not one but two….Lorri and Beverly.

Mark and I did the occasional Saturday dinner but one dinner I remember is when I helped Lorri and Beverly and Sam. The Wyricks came up with the idea of a murder mystery diner theater in which while you were enjoying a fine meal there were actors walking about, carrying on and dropping hints. Then the lights went out and a screen came from the kitchen. The lights came back on and someone had done the dirty to Sam. I didn’t think dinner was that bad! Well, the point is the guests were invited to vote on who-done-it and the winner got a prize. Myself I was tickled because I was asked to participate, and I was to be Lorri’s escort, not only that but I found I still fit in my army dress greens! I felt intimidated hanging on so close to her. I kinda didn’t know what to say. That was a great time and I will always remember it.

I don’t recall the details but Lorri worked herself to the bone when we celebrated Sam & Bev’s 40th Anniversary here.

In a way, Lorri had a hand in Margaret and my first kiss. Sam needed a ride home from the Lodge and as I remember Lorri was going to come up and fetch him. Margaret jumped at the opportunity and Lorri was informed she didn’t have to bother. Sam and Lorri gave us our first kiss and Beverly married us. That circle has been broken.

Mark DuBach now lives in Illinois near Mooseheart and sends his deep condolenses. I tried, belive me I tried to find Bob and Cooky Jarvis but I couldn’t. And I’m sure by now, Craig and Lorri are sharing a cold one. Craig drumming with a pencil on his mug and Lorri tearing up a cherry master machine. I can only say that I truly honor you Sam and Beverly and I’m so sorry she is gone. To Lorri, good bye.
